How To Use An Irish Wedding Bell

Mark | October 13, 2008

A very popular Irish wedding tradition is the wedding bell. During the ceremony, the bell is blessed, and the couple encouraged to give it a “good ring” while celebrating of their new union, its future, and the joy and happiness of the moment. We like the special touch of the Irish couple joining hands and ringing the bell together.  Wedding bells make great Irish wedding gifts!

The bell from your ceremony should then be kept within easy reach in your home. It is a great reminder of your Irish wedding day and serves a practical purpose as well. Should an argument arise, one party should take the opportunity to ring the bell - thus signaling a truce. Both parties should then take a quick moment to think back to their wedding day, the joy that they experienced, and the reasons that you both decided to join in marriage. More often than not, arguments are not about important things, and taking a moment to consider the “bigger picture” can show what a futile effort they are!

We’d encourage you to continue this wonderful tradition.  We have a Belleek Irish Wedding Bell and a Mullingar Pewter Irish Wedding Bell in our store.  Both are made in ireland.  Either one would be perfect for your Irish wedding day!

Belleek, Belleek, & Yes…More Belleek

Mark | October 6, 2008

Image of Belleek VaseWe’ve really been ramping-up our selection of Ireland’s Belleek Parian China as of late. I have to say that this is one manufacturer that is no stranger to quality at all. It is one of the most popular Irish gifts that we offer, and there is no shortage of styles in their range.

Belleek’s founder, John Caldwell Bloomfield, laid down strict policies for his company. He was adamant that any piece that was not literally perfect, was to be destroyed. To this day, that policy remains in place. The result is a guarantee of quality, and many would say - simply perfection!

Irish Baby Gifts - Belleek Bowl & Spoon

Mark | October 5, 2008

Image of Belleek Baby Bowl and SpoonI think that its fair to say that one of everyone’s favorite Irish gifts to buy is those for baby. Belleek China has a darling bowl and spoon set that’s just perfect to welcome a newborn into the world, or as an Irish Christening gift.

The detail on each piece is just wonderful. The bowl features a basketweave pattern, and is adorned with handpainted shamrocks. The spoon proudly displays the same shamrock, and is accented with a Celtic knotwork pattern. As a finishing touch, Baby is set in gold onto the bowl.

The bowl has a diameter of 4.4 inches and the spoon is 4.5 inches in length. Together, these will serve as a wonderful keepsake for years to come, and an heirloom for generations after that!

Wonderful Choice For An Irish Christening

Mark | October 2, 2008

Belleek Boy’s Christening CupChristenings in Ireland are no small affair!  There’s family to be notified, a church to be booked, and an after-party to be arranged.  We were fortunate enough to be able to have our daughter Baptized in Ireland during a visit back home.  It was an amazing experience!

Belleek Girl’s Christening CupLately, it seems like almost everyone that we know is either expecting or has just had a baby!  Shortly thereafter, of course, will be a Christening.  One or two times, we’ve struggled with what would make the perfect Irish gift for such an occasion.

Fortunately, Belleek Parian China has come to our rescue with these wonderful Christening Cups.  There is one for a baby girl, and one for a baby boy.  They are indeed beautiful items (as is everything from Belleek)!  Both cups are adorned with rabbits and rimmed in gold.  The rabbits on the girl’s cup are accented with pink bows, while the boy’s version uses blue.  These are sure to become a treasured family heirloom!
