One thousand years ago, the Vikings raided and plundered Irish Monasteries and Churches for their gold and silver.
Skilled artisans working in Dublin's Temple Bar area converted these precious metals into exquisite armlets, rings and brooches, the most common of which was a cloak fastener known as the Ring Pin which they adapted to their design.
The Vikings were driven out of Ireland one thousand years ago by Brian Boru, but much of their heritage remained. Many of their artifacts have been uncovered during excavations at Wood Quay in Dublin.
These magnificent pieces of jewelry served as the inspiration to create the Wood Quay Collection.
