This is a simple, yet classic Irish drink. Use good water (i.e. not from the tap, if you can help it) as well as a good Irish whiskey. This is a favorite to cure a case of the winter chills, etc. Serves one.
Ingredients:
2 oz Irish whiskey
2 cloves
1 slice of lemon
1 spoon of sugar (white or brown) or honey
About a cup of boiling water
Instructions:
- Use a heatproof glass for this or a mug.
- Add the whiskey and the sugar (or honey)
- Embed the cloves into the sliced lemon and place in glass
- Fill to the desired level with very hot water and stir enough to dissolve sugar (or honey)
- Serve piping hot.
Note: There is a variant of this drink that uses tea instead of water. We’ll leave that choice up to your taste buds. Enjoy!
