This beautiful Irish Wedding Coin continues the tradition of the Groom paying luck money to the family of the Bride, in order to bring happiness and blessing on the both.
The couple is surrounded by the Irish phrase Ta a lan notai I bport an bhanais translating into There are a lot of notes in the wedding tune. There is much we can learn from each other if we sing in tune and live in harmony.
On the reverse side of the coin, the ancient Ogham alphabet has been used to spell Gra Go Deo, or Love Forever.
This Irish wedding coin is presented in solid sterling silver. Measures 30mm (1.18") in diameter and 2mm (0.08") in thickness. Handmade in Ireland.
Tradition
After exchanging wedding rings, the Groom should present the Bride with this wedding coin as a symbol of all his worldly goods. Legend has it that if both the Bride and Groom exchange coins, and they clink during the exchange, the couple will be blessed with children.
Of course, an item such as this is preserved as a family heirloom and is often passed from mother to eldest son on his wedding day. A truly wonderful tradition.
